Basically a slowly developing lack of trust and faith in LoveHoney which made me decide to leave in December 2009.

Well you'd think that would be the end of it, but things reared their ugly head in another way last week. I run a private blog allowing forum users to post photos; recently this was hijacked by another member (a very petty, insecure little girl) who wanted to delete members who had been there before her she didn't know or like! Funnily enough I saw red over that little issue. She didn't bother to actually ask any of the moderators before imposing her little rules and upsetting a lot of people. Anyway, funnily enough her and her little band of petty minded people got deleted when I eback from holiday and realised all this had been going on.

The upshot is that I've had an incredible amount of abuse from her and her little band by email, forum posts and a blog devoted to it (a lot of what she alleges is untrue especially the junk emails WTF? she's on hotmail!) Now I give as good as I get, but what most annoyed me was that the forum thread where she abused me was left up by the above mentioned moderator, Carly Drew, deliberately. Supposedly she even commended the silly bitch for doing it! So if you were wondering why I wasn't posting - that's the reason, I've had a few other things to be dealing with.

I just wanted to write this to explain that and to publically condemn LoveHoney for their action (or lack of action in relation to the forum thread). It eventually got removed when I complained to the owner of the company but really! (He never replied about my conerns if you're interested).

Thankfully the photo blog is revitalised and back on track.

There's a rather ridiculous programme on UK television at the minute on Channel 4 called The Sex Education Show versus Pornography. Exactly, versus pornography. Not a well rounded debate about pornography. Not a documentary on its history and effect on modern society. But a show against it.

It's designed for teenagers to discuss teenage sex. Now as the UK has a ridiculous teenage pregnancy rate which is downright shameful to be honest, discussing this topic is no bad thing. Trouble is the presenter, Anna Richardson, and producers seem to have assumed we must take a position to criticise pornography and generally anything to do with sex it seems.

I was 16 when I first had sex. A pretty average age in the UK (and the legal age). In no way do I condone kids having sex before the legal age or before they are ready. But I am also not going to deny that teenagers (and younger kids) have sex drives. The show to me, represents teenage sexuality as a very negative thing. Ignorant kids watching too much porn which their parents are oblivious to and getting into trouble as a result. That's a pretty damning criticism and to be fair, it's not quite that bad, but it ain't far off.

They are obviously trying to do some good work with some schools, by coming in and talking and showing normal human bodies and teenagers' experience of porn and sex. But I find the presenter's attitude so negative.

Instead of an enlightened, genuine debate, she seems to come in with a rash of assumptions and we only really hear one side of the story. This is what the kids have seen and done and oh isn't it bad. Well actually no, it's not that bad.

My main complaint is that this negative attitude as I see it, suggests that teenagers shouldn't be sexual at all. Instead of suggesting that we all need to know and respect our boundaries and experiment in a safe way. They are saying no to porn, criticising it heavily for its fakeness, instead of arguing for better, more realistic pornography.

Even the sections on male and female bodies, which could be very useful, seem to have picked a very small selection of body types. Only thin people need apply! How is that helpful?

I love porn. I find it very useful! But I do strongly wish it would be more realistic, less false, more loving. It's such a pity that a programme like this which could spark genuine debate, instead focuses on the negative aspects.

The presenter is, as I type, speaking to people about their sex lives and sex toys. But her premise seems to be that we are all pressurised into sex and using sex toys. Um hello? What about the positive aspects of these toys? I do think that looking at the sexualisation of society is very useful, and talking to and helping people who do feel pressurised. But what about representing the other side? Do you really feel pressurised to be sexual all the time? Do you? I sure don't. So why not a more balanced look at this issue.

She has just visited the major supermarkets, to find, SHOCK HORROR! that they sell cock rings and lubricants designed to pleasure. This again is represented as a negative thing by her.

Why?

I cannot see why on earth there is anything wrong with sainsburys (or in her words "middle class waitrose" ahem!) selling rings and gels. They sell condoms so why not? Why our her words on the rabbit vibrator - "what do you do with that?" said in a way in which it appears scary and weird.

Last night they had a stat that two thirds of teenage girls shaved or waxed their pubic hair. This was suggested as evidence as to the sexualisation of society. But um, of course they do because they probably swim! Really, of course we all look after our pubic hair to some degree, we simply would not be allowed in a public pool if we did not! It is the use of this kind of statistic in this way that I have a problem with. It does not demonstrate the sexualisation of society. Trimming pubic hair does not equal sex!

Another great TV generated moment from the show was when they showed some of the parents what their teenagers were watching porn wise. We only got to see the audience's reactions but everyone was completely horrified. Everyone? Surely someone would say 'nah that's ok'. Nope. This is mob rule. You are a parent so you must be horrified by porn. Oh come on! How does that help an informed debate?

Oh and by typing porn into google as she did, you'll find child pornography within 45 seconds. Yeah right. Thankfully I have never come across child pornography. I feel this was far-fetched and designed to be alarmist and therefore 'good television'.

So my biggest issue with this programme is that it is overly alarmist. Instead of brokering open discussion, it has taken a stance and by god it's going to mis-use everything it can to justify this side of the story. Pity that it won't create debate in an enlightening and useful way.

Ultimately, I see it as evidence that the times they are a' changin'. Kiss goodbye to the glory days of open pornography on the web. The shutters are coming down fast, welcome sanctions and restrictions. I think our attitudes to pornography go through cycles of boom and bust. For example, 1970s mainstream porn films to porn being shut firmly away in licensed sex shops in some areas only. We've had the open and free internet, hope you enjoyed it while it lasted because I think things are changing for the worst.

Anyway as to the programme, it's on for the rest of the week so go make up your own mind.

A discussion is currently ongoing on a crap sex forum I used to be part of about the quality of erotic books. Sparked off by a daily mail article - really who reads that rag? Anyway here are my ramblings:

I certainly agree with Roche that women have too many hang-ups because we don't actually talk about the intimate stuff. yeah we'll talk about sex, but not wanking or what our bodies do. I don't have one friend I do that with and only a couple who'll discuss sex. I don't think women should beat themselves up because they don't talk though. That attitude doesn't help!

As to women acting like men. I'm certainly not going to join the ranks of fucking and not caring. It's not what I do, I'm far to emotional for it. I want to care about my partners and for it to be more than just sex. But each to their own and if anyone else wants to do it fine by me. However, there was a girl in More mag who had slept with over 1000 blokes and I doubt she actually enjoyed the sex much or felt that good about herself. Just a guess, but I think she needs to create more time for herself.

Anyway on to the point of books! I have read many sex story books, Girl with a one track mind, Suzanne Portnoy, Belle du Jour, Sleeping Around etc etc generally I don't find them all that well written but then I read chick lit and it's hardly prize winning literature!! I want books to enjoy. I no longer crave to be challenged because I don't want to be depressed currently. Life is to hard and I want escapism! I'm opting out! That means I like sex related books. I don't care if they're only story. I do think Catherine Townsend was an excellent writer but perhaps her stories are less interesting.

I think this genre is over inflated currently and in time, it'll deflate back to the quality again. What bothers me more personally, is books like black lace which tone down or censor fantasies. Compare to Nancy Friday's books. Hers are real, dirty and sometimes scary but they're REAL. We can't have all decided suddenly that animals, incest etc have never been a fantasy of ours. They can exist then but not now. Self-censorship like this concerns me because people must feel dirty that they have this fantasy. Some women have rape fantasies for example. That's a fantasy, no-one wants the reality but the fantasy does exist and my concern is that people feel bad for having them. (For info I have a bit of a rape fantasy, I do like to be dominated and my fantasy is bound up with that).

Review: Sensual Seduction

It's a film called "Sensual Seduction" by Petra Joy. Here's what I thought:

CONCEPT
I will declare straight off that this is not a R18 video. It only has an 18 certificate, which means it cannot be hard-core and you won’t see any erect cocks. So if you’re used to hard-core clips, especially those on the internet, you may wish to think twice whether this is the film for you! I used to think that soft-core porn films were a complete waste of time. I’m female, I want to see cock! But I have been pleasantly surprised and taken by this film.

It advertises itself as “art-core rather than hard-core” and that really is the perfect way to sum it up. It would be perfect as moving wallpaper in an upmarket swingers club. It is very arty in looks and has a wonderfully elaborate and burlesque feel. Think lots of sparkly masks, feathers, nipple tassels and corsets. I adore burlesque and the gloss, quality and feel of this film was a huge part of its appeal. The blurb says that women will love it and I think this is very true. It is very girly in look and feel but I am sure that men will enjoy it to.

There are a whole host of ‘characters’, all pretty attractive, especially some of the men! I would like to complain that most of the women are pretty skinny and it’s a pity that larger women were not included. This is often missing from conventional porn and I think many women would appreciate more realistic body shapes. If there were fake tits, that wasn’t immediately obvious so it’s very different from normal porn in that aspect. All the men are pretty musclely as well, which I loved but do take on board that this is also not that realistic.

You see a lot of touching, caressing and licking. You see the women’s bodies completely but the focus is less on the men which I was disappointed by. Male bodies are a huge turn on for me, but probably due to the inability to show erect cocks, the concentration was on the women.

The sets are pretty elaborate and luxurious and this certainly adds to the sensual nature of the acts. I think I would have this on in the background as I made love to a partner rather than sit down to watch it. There is no storyline or dialogue. It’s all very sensual moving images with a distinct art-house feel, so it’s best used to add to the mood rather than create a mood itself.

Going to give the game away about what happens so read with care!!

I really, really enjoyed this film. I was pretty sceptical to start with but have now watched this several times and have found it grows on me. I adore the burlesque feel and sensual nature of this film and think it would be really enjoyed by most women and a lot of men looking to add something to sex with their partners. I did not find it intimidating at all and feel that it would be enjoyed by people who are not used to watching porn.

Supposedly instead of actors, the couples are real and there certainly seems to be real connections between them which is erotic. I would recommend this to friends, both for the novices and the experienced.

Review: Wild Buck Sex Machine

Wow oh wow now this looks like a fun toy! I’ve never had a sex machine before and was very excited when I went to pick this up from the post office depot. Thankfully discreet packaging didn’t give the game away and embarrass me there! Getting it home and open, I have to say it’s not the most sexy or modern packaging. As you can see in the pictures here, the box has a tarty looking woman on it but does provide good description and information on the toy. It does look a little cheap I have to say though.

The toy itself is well packaged and comes with three individually sealed vibrators. A lifelike 5 ½ inches, a flexible longer 7 inch one and a g-spot 5 inch one. All can be used by themselves so you’ve got three new toys right there before you start on the main one! To vibrate they all take AA batteries, the 7 inch one taking two. So that bit’s nice and easy, you just pop the batteries in, turn the dial and have differing strengths of vibrations.

The g-spot one is at a really good angle and did the trick for me. The 7 inch one feels good and is not too ‘fat’. It was the perfect size for me. I found the 5 ½ inch one a bit short because it meant there was no ‘handle’ to use (although it works well with the main toy which we’re coming to) and I didn’t like the ridge at the head which I found a bit uncomfortable. The stool bit is shaped to fit well against your body and feels a bit padded, certainly not hard at all.

It comes with a remote which is really handy and a little pocket to keep it in. The batteries for the remote are provided, as is a spare which is rather good. It’s really simple to operate, just one big on and off button on a cute red/pink remote. Starting it up it’s not as loud as you would expect to be honest. This is just such a great idea for a toy; trouble is it’s too flawed to be really great which is just such a pity. It really is a case of form over function. The shaver and vibrator are at different ends and the shaver is hidden behind a ‘safety cap’. Now this is where we have our first problem. This is NOT a safety cap. It’s a lump of silicone with metal inside that loosely cover the shaver. I spent ages trying to ‘click’ the cap shut, thinking I must be an idiot, but I have come to the decision that there is no mechanism to keep the top on. Ergo it has a tendency to fall off, meaning it’s not very safe at all.

Well it's a year since I started this blog. There's been times when I posted a lot, and times when I've not posted a thing for too long. But I'm in the mood to celebrate regardless.

Here's a review of the new rabbit vibrator. The rabbit has been famous since Sex and The City as a great vibrator offering clitoral and vaginal stimulation. The new version has an ‘up’ and ‘down’ button for each of the functions, and lights which indicate the power setting. There’s also one to change the direction of the rotating balls. These buttons are easier to use, less likely to be hit by mistake and easier to remember what button controls what.

The battery case has also been improved, making it easier to change the batteries in a hurry- mine always seem to die at the exactly wrong moment and were a passion killer in the older version, but they’re much easier to change now. It’s also easier to understand how to load the batteries, which was slightly confusing in the old version. The whole battery bit/handle has been redesigned and looks much nicer than the white lump of plastic it used to be.

I also think the white balls are more classy than the original multi-coloured ones (although I still find the cartoon character on the shaft cringe-worthy!).

But EVEN BETTER than addressing those issues, there have been some new additions!

There are now three power settings for the ears, which makes it easier to find your perfect strength of vibrations, and man are these powerful at full blast! There’s also three speed settings for the rotating balls.

So I was going to post eventually about how this blog is on pause, not stopped etc etc but I just saw something that I need to rant about and as it's connected to women's sexuality, it seems applicable to put it here. Now I'll be honest, I'm a year late to comment on this analysis of the song Baby It's Cold Outside. If you're interested, and it really is such a fabulous song, listen to my favourite version by Bing Crosby and Doris Day

Now the analysis by The Infamous Brad, has this song as a date-rape one. Wot the fuck?! I'm quite happy for anyone else to wish to believe this, but to me it's quite frankly completely bonkers.

Now I'm no-where nearly geeky enough to be bothered to translate the lyrics as I hear them. Brad has a version, and I'd like to highlight that I disagree with some small words (line 26 is definitely coat not comb to me). Anyway that's not the point.

This song describes a desperate guy trying to convince his girl to stay with him (you can decide whether it's for a couple of hours or the whole night. Personally I'm not decided). He, like every other guy I've ever known, is trying it on; trying to convince her to stay with him. She's protesting saying she must go and explaining the social mores that prevent her from staying. BUT I CAN PRETTY MUCH CATEGORICALLY EXPLAIN THAT SHE WANTS TO STAY!

I'll come back to this in a minute, but let's first get the "say what's in this drink?" bit out of the way first. Yes, if you do read it like that it could insinuate a date-rape drunk in her drink, could, not does. It's humour for fucks sake! She goes on to say she wish she knew how to break the spell. That's a love (or lust!) spell. The use of the word spell takes it away from date-rape to desire, to wants on her part, to stay with him.

My argument is that a woman is yet again, being portrayed in a way in which she is denied any sexual desire and longing of her own. Sexual desire is so frigging often portrayed as a thing men have and not us innocent women. We always have to be the ones to say 'stop'- have you ever been a girl/woman who has to stop something she really wants to do coz of what others will think of her afterwards? It's so fucking annoying! Women from such an early age, and even today, still learn to stop their own sexual desire, to hold themselves back, because of the stupidity of society which thinks badly of her if she shows any sexual desire of her own. Even I sometimes hold myself back when I wank or have sex because I got so used to doing it when I was younger. And to be perfectly honest, it can be pretty toxic doing that to your desire. That reflex stops you in your tracks and turns you off immediately, even when you're on your own and no-one can judge you.

And this is now! So when I hear people criticise this song, which I'll happily admit I absolutely adore, being a huge Bing fan; I find it so annoying. She's just doing the dance that every woman before and after her has to frigging do! Yes, yes, more, more in her head, but 'no', 'ought not to', 'I should go'. There's an important and significant difference from "NO leave me alone" scared, to "I ought not to". It's such an important difference to understand, because to confuse 'ought not to' with "NO" trivialises what is such a horrific crime of sexual violence taking some one's will and consent away. I completely think that rape is a worse crime than murder, and the tragic prosecution rates in the UK and most other countries, is perhaps our biggest failing as a society.

People sometimes criticise women for the alleged confusion of "no", and as read, it can look confused, but in the situation, with tone, emphasis and body language, it's crystal clear.

It sucks that it has to be the woman who always has to say 'no she shouldn't'. It denies us of our sexuality and says that we are dirty to be sexual. Bollocks! I am a sexual person. I have desires. I have wants. I am female. I am not abnormal/dirty/wrong to have these. I do not deserve to be raped for having these desires. The sooner we realise this as a society the better, but I wouldn't put my money on that happening anytime soon unfortunately.

So Baby It's Cold Outside ain't a date-rape song. It's the song of the dance men and women do in our society where she has to suppress her desires and needs for her to be socially acceptable and remain positive in the eyes of others. How very sad that is. How very sad that it still remain true FIFTY YEARS later. At least it's a stonkingly good song. Enjoy.

I've already mentioned how much I like my new toy but thought I could help others decide by providing a few more details. So here's my review, and you can see what other think at the Orgasm Army.

Fun fun fun! Definitely does it for me, great solo or during sex.

I really liked the idea of the cone as I think it's really innovative, so it's been on my wish list for some time. I eventually bought it and have to admit that at £50 it is an expensive sex toy, but I personally think it's just about worth that price tag. I think it's really well made, love the colour and shape and it's much softer than it looks, being made from medical grade silicone. The tip is not hard as you might think but is actually pretty flexible.

It has 16 types of vibrations, from constant buzzing at about four power settings to a multitude of pulses; culminating in the final 'orgasm' one which is a mix of long and short pulses. There's even a separate button to whisk you to this programme immediately!

I thought the cone was really comfortable to use because it's not too hard and it's really versatile to different positions. It's great that it can be both a solo and couples toy and no man is going to feel intimidated by it!

However, there are a few downsides- on the higher settings it can be bloody noisy if you're not on it. Though that can be solved by you being constantly attached to it! It also only takes C batteries (it needs three) which it will gobble up pretty quickly I think. Some people seemed to have a problem with the weight once these were in, but I only used it on a flat surface so I had no problems (what were they doing with it?!)

There are only two buttons which are easy to use but perhaps too simple. One puts it on and off and to the 'orgasm' programme, and the other cycles through all 16 programmes. I'd like an up and down programme buttons so I could go back to a previous programme without having to go all through the sequence. Also you do have to place the buttons at an accessible angle depending on how you're using it before you start coz otherwise they can be hard to find.

However, I'm really happy with the cone and think it is value for money for me. But I prefer toys that I can get on top of as opposed to conventional vibrators. I do think that because it's innovative, no hands and can be used by couples it's a good toy, but perhaps we'd all prefer if it was slightly cheaper?
